The psychology program is part of the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. Our goal as a department is to graduate women and men that are uniquely equipped to provide scientific perspective and solutions to the complex problems facing humanity.
Learn about the School of Natural Science and MathematicsA bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Mount will help you build the analytical, interpersonal and critical thinking skills needed to thrive in many related fields.
You’ll learn about psychological research methods and statistics, along with how to design experiments and interpret results. Courses will cover lifespan development from conception to older adulthood, along with social psychology topics in social perception, attitude formation and change, altruism, aggression, conformity and group interaction.
Additional courses cover biopsychology, experimental learning, and classical and operant conditioning. Laboratory experiences will also add a hands-on learning component to complement in-class lectures. Complete the program with an extensive research project where you’ll cover advanced topics in philosophy of science, research design
After graduation, you’ll have the education and experience necessary begin a career with a rehabilitation center or as a research assistant, or pursue a specialized graduate program to become a clinical psychologist, career counselor or therapist.
