Mount St. Mary’s University’s graduate School of Health Professions will serve as a leading edge medical education facility graduating the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Our programs will prepare students to meet the growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals locally and across the country. The new school will open its doors in the fall of 2024.
At the Mount’s School of Health Professions, our mission is to Care Significantly.
Care for America embodies our dedication to promoting healthcare equity. The program empowers students to become patient advocates and providers of equitable healthcare through health equity courses, immersive learning experiences and clinical rotations. Additionally, Care for America provides scholarship opportunities for PA students committed to working in the most underserved settings after graduation.
The Center for Clinician Well-Being offers a wide array of curricular and extracurricular opportunities to support students in developing lifelong habits that promote contentment, resilience, wellness and joy. This initiative proactively helps students build the necessary mindsets and skills to maintain their well-being and prevent burnout throughout their healthcare careers.
The Pediatric Health Center offers patient and family care through tailored care plans and therapies developed by licensed behavioral analysts. The aim is to provide a therapeutic environment for individuals dealing with behavioral issues, along with offering training to parents, teachers and other professionals. More information coming soon.
The Physician Assistant program provides a comprehensive curriculum, grounded in principles of equity and well-being, to prepare students to become highly skilled and compassionate healthcare practitioners.
The Applied Behavioral Analysis program teaches the knowledge and skills to assess and treat behavioral, communication and developmental disabilities, enabling students to become providers who make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families.
Currently there are not enough healthcare practitioners to ensure the health and well-being of our local community.
Recent reports suggest troubling declines in the health of individuals who live in the rural US. Provider shortages are a leading factor.
Significant inequality exists in healthcare in the United States across sex, race and ethnicity, income, education, disability status and other characteristics. This leads to disparities in health outcomes.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly half of healthcare workers identified as burned out. This decreases the quality of patient care and the well-being of clinicians.
The School of Health Professions is our biggest, boldest step in growing the next generation of ethical, compassionate healthcare leaders. Your support makes it possible.
