As a graduate of the Mount’s Master of Science in Biotechnology and Management (MSB) you will be poised to assume leadership responsibilities in your organization.

The Master of Science in biotechnology and management program is part of the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. Our goal as a department is to graduate women and men that are uniquely equipped to provide scientific perspective and solutions to the complex problems facing humanity.

Coursework & Format

Rapid growth in biotechnology requires professionals who can successfully navigate both science and business. The Mount’s program develops your advanced understanding of:

  • The process of moving products to market
  • Industry regulations
  • Project management and financial reporting
  • Ethical and critical thinking
  • Product development, marketing and personnel management

The MSB program is designed for working adults in biotechnology or related industries. The Mount focuses on student success and emphasizes ethics and values.

  • Finish in only 1-2 years. 12 courses are offered in 8-week sessions, allowing you to focus on one class at a time.
  • Attend convenient classes. Meet one night per week (6-9:30 p.m.) either in-person or online with our blended course format. Our Frederick campus is minutes from I-70 and I-270, near the FSK mall.
  • Support from classmates and faculty.
  • Focus on biotechnology. Science courses explore protein biochemistry, molecular genetics, bioinformatics, experimental design and statistical analysis, drug discovery, FDA regulations, and research ethics.
  • Hone your business skills. Business courses focus on organizational management, financial reporting and information technology.

This program is available to be completed fully online asynchronous and/or synchronous.

Earn a Certificate

You can also earn a post-baccalaureate certificate with the addition of just three classes. This gives you a certificate at considerable savings. Certificates that you can take for this savings include:

Affordability & Financial Aid

$25,200 – Estimated total cost of tuition, including fees*

  • Cost is based on 36 credits (twelve (12) courses) at $700 per credit
  • Students may transfer in up to nine (9) credits
  • Based on transcript analysis, prerequisite courses may be required for an additional cost ($430 per course*)
  • No application fee

Financial Aid

Students may seek financial assistance through federal and state funded programs, private loan providers, employer tuition remission or reimbursement, or deferment of undergraduate loans. The Mount also has a variety of employer tuition remission or reimbursement agreements with local businesses and community colleges, so you may just get a discount from your employer or previous college. Admissions & Application

Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field. A complete application includes:

  • Résumé detailing professional experience
  • Official transcripts from all schools attended after high school
  • Additional requirements for international students may be required
