Health & Fitness

Take advantage of everything the Mount's Health and Fitness programs have to offer!  We are here to support your mind, body, and spirit, through encouraging healthy eating habits, mindfulness, yoga, circuit training, fitness classes, and cardio programs.  We can also help you set up a program that you can do on your own.

Fitness Areas in the ARCC

The following areas of the ARCC are available for use by the Mount Community and ARCC Members.

Fitness Classes

The Mount offers a full schedule of in-person fitness classes!  Masks must be worn in the general areas of the ARCC but may be removed for class!

When you register for classes you will receive a fitness class card that will be good for the semester. Each time you enter the ARCC through the west sliding doors, you will proceed to the Registration Desk and show your Mount or ARCC ID along with your fitness class card before proceeding to the studio.

Classes offered will include Cycle Express, Gentle Yoga, Indoor Cycle, Kickbox, Strength Express, Tone & Core, Total Body Strength®, and Yoga Flow.

  • CYCLE EXPRESS - Thursdays, 5:30-6 p.m.: Enjoy a 30-minute heart-pumping, sweat-producing, indoor cycle class.  Great for those with limited time as well as those who may not feel ready for the 60-minute class.  You control the resistance on your bike to make the pedaling as easy or difficult as you choose.
  • GENTLE YOGA - Tuesdays 6:45-7:45 p.m.: Improve the way you look and feel with a relaxing 60-minute class that focuses on gentle poses. This class will strengthen your core, improve your posture, increase your balance and flexibility, strengthen and tone muscles, and relieve joint pain. All levels are welcome.
  • INDOOR CYCLE - Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 a.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Wednesdays, 12-12:45 p.m.: Instructors will guide you through several workout phases including warm-up, steady up-tempo cadences, sprints, climbs, and cool-downs. You control the resistance on your bike to make the pedaling as easy or difficult as you choose. Constant adjustment is normal. All you'll need is workout clothes, a towel (to wipe your face), a water bottle, and lots of positive energy.
  • KICKBOX - Fridays, 6:30-7:30 a.m.: A fiercely energetic workout that combines punches, kicks, and core exercises to maximize your calorie burn while improving muscle tone, core strength, and endurance. Count on great music and powerful moves.
  • STRENGTH EXPRESS - Thursdays, 6:15-6:45 p.m.:Thirty minutes of your favorite barbell workout focusing on the compound, multi-joint lifts. The same great exercises and music as the 60-minute class, creating thrilling results.
  • TONE & CORE - Wednesdays, 5:30-6:15 p.m.: Tone your upper body, lower body, and core with exercises using your own body weight, resistance tubing, mini bands, and barbells.
  • TOTAL BODY STRENGTH - Mondays, 12-12:45 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m.: A barbell workout that incorporates functional strength training by using weights and bodyweight in every movement plane. The safe, motivating exercises and great music create a thrilling results-based fitness class experience.
  • YOGA FLOW - Wednesdays, 4:30-5:15 p.m. and Fridays 12-12:45 p.m.: A 45-minute practice that links movement, poses, and meditation with breath while improving strength, flexibility, and balance. Leave your yoga practice calmer, focused, and energized. All levels are welcome.

Fitness Center Programs and Services

Personal Training

Begin with an introductory consultation which includes a baseline assessment, brief health appraisal, discussion of health and exercise history, and goal setting. Your workout program will be designed based on the information gathered. Training sessions are scheduled based on trainer/client availability.

Personal training is available to all Mount students, Mount Community members, and ARCC members. If interested in training sessions, please submit a personal training request form.

appointment cancellation policy

If you need to cancel your personal training appointment, you must do so at least 12 hours before your scheduled appointment.  Cancellations must be sent directly to the trainer via email, phone call, or text message.  You must receive a confirmation of cancellation from the trainer.  If you do not appear for a scheduled appointment or fail to give 12-hours notice, you will be charged for the full session.

Equipment Orientations

Equipment Orientations include a basic introduction to the selectorized weight machines in the PNC Fitness Center and Circuit Room, and the cardio machines. Trainers will teach you how to use the machines while focusing on proper form, technique, and settings. Orientations will meet one time only, are free of charge, and are available to Mount students, Mount Community members, and ARCC Members by appointment only. Biometric Screenings

Free biometric screenings including body weight measurement, body fat and BMI analysis, circumference measurements, and blood pressure readings and are available for Mount Students and the Mount Community.  The scheduled dates for these screenings are:

  • Thursday, September 2, 2021, 1-4 p.m.
  • Monday, September 27, 2021, 1:30-4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 26, 2021, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 1, 2021, 9-11:30 a.m.

Biometric Screenings are also available by individual appointments outside the dates listed above.

  • ARCC Members - $5 per screening (payable by check only)

All screenings are by appointment only and are scheduled every 20 minutes in the Fitness Office (RM. #214) located on the upper level of the PNC Fitness Center.
